Machine  & Quilting Classes

BSR, Twice Quilted

You'll have hands-on practice with BSR1 and BSR2. Learn the differences between the two and how they can be used effectively to enhance your machine quilting. *Sewing machine with BSR required. The Care and Feeding of Your Bernina
A regular service of your machine every 12-18 months is recommended by Bernina, but there are things you can do yourself to help keep your machine running smoothly in between. Learn how clean the bobbin area, oil the hook, check the tension and other great hints for maintaining your machine from the best Bernina tech in the area. Going Beyond the Basics of Machine Quilting
If you want to move beyond the practice piece and tackle your quilt, but still have anxiety, this is the answer.  Bring your basted top, thread of your choice and get hands-on help putting it under the needle.  Sometimes it only takes a little encouragement and the knowledge that your teacher is only a step away.  You’ll leave with the confidence to complete your project.  Basic Machine Quilting skills required.  Ask or click here for supply list.  *Sewing machine required. Putting the Quilt in the Frame
If you have the new Bernina quilting frame or any of the others that are out there, let us answer these questions for you: “How do I pin, keep the batting flat, roll the quilt and keep it straight, set up a pantograph?”  No stitching in class. Bring note-taking supplies.  1 session, $29

Take the new Bernina Quilt Frame for a test run with Kathy there to give you a hand.  Learn basic movements to create simple meanders and easy patterns.  Class is limited to 4 students each session in order to give everyone a chance to experience the fun.

Design Classes

*NEW*Design Your Own Memory Quilt
All quilters seem to have collections of things – linens, clothes, photos, UFOs – that were precious to family and  friends who may no longer be with us.  We’ll discuss how to incorporate these treasures into an original quilt design that pays tribute to the original owners and our memories of them. Designs will be based on personal taste and skill level. No sewing in class. Students will leave with ideas and usable plans to complete her memory quilt.  (This class will also be taught by Cyndi at this year’s Vermont Quilt Festival.)  Ask for supply list.  1 session, $29

The Tee-Shirt Quilt
We all know someone who can’t throw away their old T-shirts.  Keep those memories close, save drawer space and put them together into a quilt.  Whether they are sports shirts, school shirts, or vacation shirts, it will make a great gift for kids, spouses, etc.  Setting possibilities will also be explored.  Ask or click here for supply list. *Sewing machine required. Scrap Therapy

Most of us have bits and pieces everywhere in our sewing space and there is always an organizational issue with these glorious scraps. Here is the help you’ve been looking for. We have scheduled a cutting session to get your pieces into convenient sizes and storage and then listed two great projects to use them up!! The cutting class is mandatory in order to take the project classes.

The Cutting Workshop
