Quilt Patch Challenge Update
All of the Challenge Kits were sold and we are hoping for a large return of finished pieces which are due in the shop April 1, 2010. They will hang for 30 days and customers will vote for their favorite and the votes will be tallied.  First, second and third places will win gift cards in the amounts of $300, $200 and $100.  There will also be a staff choice winner. If there are enough entries, honorable mention will be considered.  Please be sure that the piece you are submitting is labeled ON THE BACK with your name and contact information.  We can’t wait to see what you have done!!!

Charlotte Angotti

Charlotte Angotti will teach and lecture in September 2010.  Charlotte is a quilter, pattern designer and teaches nationwide.  She is best known for her sense of humor and for her “Surprise Me” classes and they are always among the first to fill up at Houston Quilt Festival.  Charlotte almost never teaches these classes at shops because the fabric is provided, but they are so much fun I have decided that we will offer them at The Quilt Patch for all of you who cannot make the journey to Houston  You won’t want to miss this unique opportunity.

Click here for more information about Charlotte Angotti.

Class: Let Me Surprise You
In this fun-filled class, a kit of cut fabrics is furnished, so there’s not too much cutting and thinking.  The quilt will be designed especially for this class and the students will have the same fabrics; however, differences will take place with the setting, borders and sashing..  Flexibility is required, but fun is guaranteed. Ask for supply list.  Bring bag lunch. Cost: $175 (includes kit)  No cancellations after Aug 15
Thursday 10am-4pm: September 16
Saturday 10am-4pm: September 18

Class: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
We just wanna have fun sewing!!! And if the end result is a fabulous quilt, all the better.  This one features two alternating blocks and is as scrappy as you wish to make it.  It’s a great stash buster.  Ask for supply list.  *Sewing machine and pattern required.  Bring bag lunch, Cost: $95
Friday 10am-4pm: September 17

Class: Cure for the Common Quilt
This class is about color, Charlotte’s methods and how she achieves her “look.”  Translate that into your own taste for color and fabric to achieve your own special “look.”  Explore value, intensity, relationships among colors and train your eye to see beyond the print.  Students will work with fabric, not just the color wheel, and leave with a better understanding of how color and fabric work in quilt making. Ask for supply list. Bring bag lunch. No sewing in class. Cost $95
Sunday 11am-5pm:  September 19

Lecture:
Hello, My Name is Charlotte and I am a Quiltmaker
Experience Charlotte’s wonderful sense of humor as she describes the 12 Steps of Fabric Collection.  No slides, but real quilts that can be touched and photographed.  Your questions are welcome and the format is easy.  Lecture will be held in the Old Town Hall.  Cost: $15
Thursday 7:30-9pm: September 16

Project Linus
April 1 & 2 (Thursday & Friday) 10am to 4pm
Come join us any or all of these days. I know how busy everyone is, but I guarantee that your service will make you feel wonderful, knowing that you have helped make a child happy.

For those of you who wish to help but are unavailable to come and sew, we are happy to take any donated tops that need finishing, especially those appropriate for teens and older boys. If you are looking through your work space and see things you know you’ll never finish (and we all have them), we can turn them into treasures. You may drop them off any time at the Quilt Patch. We also collect finished blankets, comforters and quilts for Project Linus. Please mark your donations with your name and contact information.

Million Pillowcase Project
American Patchwork and Quilting is conducting a challenge to make a million pillowcases to be donated to good causes.  Every pillowcase can make a difference in our community.  A pillowcase can provide comfort for a cancer patient, hope for a foster child, encouragement for a battered woman, or beauty for a nursing home resident.

You may drop them off at the Quilt Patch for us to distribute, or you may donate them to your favorite cause.  We just need your name and the number of pillowcases donated and to whom, so we can forward this information to AP&Q.

In addition we have scheduled some free classes so you can learn to make them quickly and efficiently (see details inside), and two days have been set aside for you to come to the shop and participate in a pillowcase marathon session. Let’s see what we can do to spread some sunshine. Ask or click here for supply list.
Saturday 10am-4pm: March 20
